The Blues revival continued at Portman Road this afternoon as Town overcame fellow relegation battlers Leicester 2-0. After a not always convincing first half display, Town took over in the second as Martijn Reuser set-up up early goals for Marcus Bent and Sixto Peralta, their first goals in the Blue shirt.

John McGreal is the only notable absentee from the squad for Boxing Day's game with Leicester at Portman Road. In the squad for the first time since the Bolton match is Ulrich Le Pen who made his comeback in the 4-0 reserves win over Chelsea last Wednesday.

As expected James Pullen's loan spell at Blackpool has been extended to the end of the season. The former Heybridge keeper has also signed a new contract at Town which will keep him here until 2004.

Hartlepool's Tommy Miller is to have talks at Portman Road today after the two clubs agreed a fee, thought to be around £800,000. But Town hope that this isn't where the spending is going to stop. George Burley has said that he is about to sign another, far higher profile player.

Town have few worries ahead of the clash with Charlton at Portman Road. Several players have missed training this week, but all are expected to be in the running for places. The biggest worry was Jim Magilton, but an X-ray earlier in the week showed that there was no serious problem with his ankle injury. Mark Venus has also suffered with an ankle injury, while Richard Naylor has again felt pain from his knees. This has led to speculation that James Scowcroft could be offered a recall up front with Marcus Stewart. Titus Bramble, left out of the England U21 squad yesterday, looks likely to be on the bench for Town while Mark Venus and John McGreal continue to impress at the centre of defence.

Town are likely to face an understrength Arsenal side in October 30th's Worthington Cup tie at Highbury. The North Londers warn fans on their tickets that they are unlikely to field a full stregth side in the competition, although like any of the major players in the Premier League even their reserves are pretty fearsome. Town manager When the suggestion of Arsenal putting out a less than full strength side George Burley said "what's a weak Arsenal side?" a reference to the fact that their bench contains several high profile stars. Burley added that the draw was "a good one for the fans".

Town skipper Matt Holland is expected to be fit for tomorrow's home game with Aston Villa. The 171 consecutive appearance man has had ice packs on his ankle since Wednesday's game with Leicester and they seem to have done the trick.

James Scowcroft is once again Town's unlucky man with a hamstring injury putting him out of the pre-season tour. Scowcroft missed the play-off final with a hamstring tear sustained during the second leg of the semi-final with Bolton and is hoping this new problem isn't related: "I desperately hope it's not the same problem I suffered over the closing stages of last season. That really set me up for a heartbreaking time."
